Birthdays

One time in the little town of Calgary an old man went on his merry way to work. This man was named Timothy I. Houghton. One time, today, I felt like an old man. Many years have passed since I was born, 23 to be exactamundo. Today was my day of birth. I felt older today then any other day in the history of my life. Now you might be saying that 23 is really not that old, but it really is super old. Imagine all of the things that I should have accomplished by the age of 23. If I adhered to the strict code of bible school I would be married, and in the process of raising 7 children. Granted I was always a little different then most people who went to bible school. Some may have even called me unconventional. This whole idea of being old really had me thinking lately. I even went so far as to name today "Old Man Monday". I wore a sweater vest to work, and I brought my pipe to propel the image of oldness upon my co-workers. Today, aside from being old, was a great day. I enjoyed the company of my co-workers, and they even had some cake and coffee for me near the end of the day, which in my opinion is a great break from opening mail. I then came home and went to Costco with my roommates to acquire some foodstuffs with which to enjoy the eve. We ate pasta, had some wine, and then consumed one of my favorite things of all time, Cinnamon Buns. Oh how I love cinnamon buns. Anyways it was a great day, and even though each year the whole birthday thing is a little less and less meaningful, I still enjoy a little break from the ordinary and a great meal with friends. So here is to birthdays and their glorious nature that makes one contemplate life and the future that it holds. One further note, I have blogged today in remembrance that it is tradition for me to blog on my birthday. If you dare you can gaze at the archives to November 27th and read many things. Until next time, keep your stick on the ice, and your tongue off the fence.

Tim! Happy Birthday...a couple days late, my apologies! Hope all is well! And I really don't think you're an old man, I'm a good 9 months older than you and I'm still in university, so it's all good. You've got plenty of time to get hired by National Geographic!
