I write today in a tradition that has dated back many years. This is the annual Birthday Update. Today was one of the finest birthdays I have ever had. I recieved wonderful presents from my brother Josh, Terry Stofer, Sharon and Allen Ross, and a wonderful card from my Aunt Phyllis. I then went to school and got a bag of cookies from my secret sister, which was super cool. Then I came home had a meeting and then went out to the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Funny story while going the the CPO. A good friend of mine, Matt Russell, bought me my ticket, but we went to the wrong booth for tickets and we ended up getting tickets to go to a play intitled "A boy's own Jedi Handbook". It looked interesting, but not for someone who had their mind set on seeing music and not a play. So Matt had to return the tickets and we went to a different outlet to get tickets, and by we I mean Matt Russell, Becky Horoky, Connie Neumiller, and yours truly. We finally got our tickets and headed to our seats in the balconey. They were great seats and the view was great, it just got really warm up there with a whole bunch of people sitting around us. The music was wonderful and insightful and there was even some East Indian dance of one sort or another. I found the dance most distracting and focused on the other performers. After a wonderful performance we headed back to the dorm and I got a Chai Latte on the way, which capped the night off and made my day a wonderful experience. Tomorrow another group of us are going to Boston Pizza to consume some good food and to have good company. I am super tired, today was busy and full of stuff. Tomorrow hopefully I get a package from my parents. Peace, love and Happy Thanksgiving.

I have this feeling that the readers of this shindig may want to see where I, Tim Houghton, Lives and sleeps and eats. SO, I have created a page which allows you the reader to view the abode of Tim, and Troy (my roommate). CLICK HERE TO SEE MY APARTMENT. Its a great little place I have here. Its nice and cozy and too small. For two fairly large gentlemen its a mite small. But its home for now so I like it. Anyways this is great, and now I am going to go. Peace yo.

So I stayed the night at Dan Haugan's house last night. It was a great time of reading and watching cable television. The night was needed seeing as I had a lot of reading to do and It would not get done at the dorms, where I am right now. As I am presently speaking two friends of mine are singing a Reggae version of Hotel Califorina by the Eagles. Its quite amusing and I must say they are talented, if of course you like bad music. Anyways, the past week has been a conglomeration of papers, reading, eating pasta, and checking my e-mail. I did a paper on Gnosticism, a heresy that flourished in the Second Century, strangley enough for my Christianity in the Second Century. It was the most nervous I have been for a presentation possibley in my entire life. I think it was because I had to read a paper that I had written to the whole class, granted there are only 6 in the class including the prof, but it was quite the nerve racking experience. And by racking I mean in the medieval sense of the word, placing something on a board and streching it. Thats what I felt my nerves were doing, being streched to the max. Anyways. Its super cold here, and by super cold I mean super super super cold. There is construction near the building and I was watching them pour the concrete today and was wondering how it stayed not frozen. Well I cant figure it out, but if you know send me some mail at here and maybe I will answer you. Thats it for today, tune in next time when Tim attempts to go outside when its cold.

I would advise you to never see "The Rundown" with Sean Williams Scott, from American Pie, and The Rock. It was a cinematic atrosoty. Granted there were those who were in the theatre who like that kind of trash, the kind of people who have cell phones that go off in the middle of the movie, the type of people who make ad jokes before, during, and after the movie, and think that they are so cool because they swear every other word (I have lots of issues with these type of people, espically with these types of people in the theatre, and sitting right behind me). Unfortunetly the movie was bad, but fortunetly it was only 2 dollars. And also fortunetly I went with friends who made it worth while.

I apologize for the negitivity of this update, I had an aggravating day.

What you may ask made this day aggravating besides a bad movie, well let me tell you. This morning we had a chapel, and rightfully so it is rememberence day, and as Canadians we have a lot to be thankful for. So I got up early this morning to go to this chapel in the Historic "Knox United Church". I get there and it looks like it might be a memorable moment since there is so much history in the building. There are plaques on the wall commemorating those who had left from the congregation to fight in a war, and dident come back. They are quite elaborate and I had seen them prior to today and was hoping that there might be a mention made about the sacrifice those who were mentioned made. To my dismay and disapointment there was no such mention. In fact the actual Rememberance Day portion of the chapel consisted of singing "O Canada", hearing a scripture reading, the playing of a bugal call (I am not even sure if it was Taps) and then a moment of silence, and then the singing of "God Save The Queen". Thats it, I kid you not. After this poor display of patriotism there was a short concert put on the the choirs of CBC, the College Coral, and The Chapel Singers. The whole chapel lasted no more then 20 mins. I was distraught at this and shared my displeasure with others. My Grandfather trained pilots in the war. I remembered Him and his contrabution to the war and can only imagine what those who lost a loved one in the war were thinking about today. I felt betrayed by those who plan the chapel and wish now that I would have skipped it all together and found a cenitaph somewhere and paid my respects there and not in a chapel where the focus was on a Choir. Granted it was chapel, but as christians were are called to follow our leadership, and if the government calls us to go to war we are obliged to follow. Those who died protecting my freedom should not be remembered by simply adding them to a choral chapel but they should be honored specially. November 11 is one day a year and is it too much to ask to make time to remember, possibely hear from a vetrean who is a Christian, or something. My elementry years held better Rememberance Day programs then a college, I find this depressing. What I also find disapointing is that I also had school today. While the rest of the city had the day off we had to endure classes. It was more annoying then anything. But enough of me ranting and raving I shall go and make tea, it always calms me down. If you ever want to get ahold of me dont hesitate to write or you can write and ask for my phone number and then you can call me, that would be super cool. Peace and happy Rememberance Day.

It has been so long since the last writing for no apparent reason other than I have not felt in the mood to write. The week or so has not been very interesting aside from the fact that I will soon have a large sum of money that has to go to the payment of school. This large sum of money is comming from the almighty BC Government, yea for Gordon Campbell, or whoever is in power now, and his grubby little hands. It would be so nice if he just gave me money, it would make me happy. On a happier note Droom, a band of friend Ian G, released an album the other day. Its pretty killer, if you happen to like electronica or industrial music, I happen too and the album is great. On the other side of things, people on my floor are getting on my nerves. Its the way they act, the disrespect they have for others in general, the personal views that they have, and so on. I know I am supposed to try and like them, but I dont see it happening in the future so I wont even try anymore. Its getting to a point that I wont even go into their rooms, partly cause they are so dirty, and cause they make bad smelling food, but also cause they really just tick me off. I've got some issues. Speaking of Issues there are women making noise like never before heard in the elevator outside. Its a madhouse here sometimes, kinda unfortunate cause some people take it too far but most of the time its fun. speaking of fun, any questions regarding life at CBC or T.I.Houghton can be directed to ME and I will get back to you post haste. Peace yo, and happy something day.
